New Release Round-Up 1st October 2021

Out Today

THE SPECIALS follow up their No. 1 comeback album 'Encore' with 'Protest Songs 1924-2012' which, as you may have guessed, sees the remaining trio of Terry Hall, Lynval Golding and Horace Panter covering iconic protest songs from the likes of Bob Marley, Leonard Cohen and The Staple Singers.

There are a couple of Dinked Edition releases today which we still have a handful of copies of, if you move quickly. There's literate jangle pop from Canadian duo DUCKS LTD in the form of debut 'Modern Fiction' and a sophomore album from San Francisco slowcore/dreampop outfit CINDY '1:2

TONY BENNETT & LADY GAGA reteam for a follow-up to their Grammy winner 'Cheek To Cheek'. 'Love For Sale' sees the Artpop singer once again duetting with legendary vocalist Bennett, who announced his retirement from public performance earlier this year at the age of 95, on standards from the Cole Porter songbook.

Queen's ROGER TAYLOR releases a new solo record 'Outsider' on CD and LP. Plus there are new albums from BRANDI CARLILE, TIRZAH, POND and AUDIOBOOKS. There are vinyl issues for the STEELY DAN/DONALD FAGEN  live albums we mentioned last week, and also for TAYLOR SWIFT's 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)'

Reissues

'Carnegie Hall 1970' is the inaugural release in NEIL YOUNG's Official Bootleg series, capturing a solo acoustic set from year which saw him release seminal albums 'After the Gold Rush' and 'Déjà Vu' (with CSNY).

There's a 20th anniversary reissue of the SUGABABES debut 'One Touch' with a couple of different vinyl variants, while there's a 25th anniversary yellow vinyl of FUN LOVIN' CRIMINALS 'Come Find Yourself'.

Pre-orders

How about a release for May of next year! LIAM GALLAGHER announced his new solo album 'C'MON YOU KNOW' as he looks to score a fourth consecutive No. 1 record.

There's not quite as long to wait for the return of IDLES, whose new album 'CRAWLER' is available on indies exclusive eco-mix vinyl alongside standard formats.

DAVID BOWIE's 'TOY:BOX' presents for the first time a lost album recorded just after his triumphant Glastonbury 2000 performance and comprising new interpretations of songs first recorded between 1964-1971.

'Still Rising' collects the solo hits and feature spots of behatted jazz vocalist GREGORY PORTER in time for Christmas.
