New Release Round-Up 8th October 2021

Out Today

There's a trio of Dinked Editions to be celebrated today. Two have already sold out on pre-order: JOHNNY FLYNN's collaboration with acclaimed nature writer Robert Macfarlane 'Lost in The Cedar Wood' and duo JOHN's punishing 'Nocturnal Manoeuvres'. Standard formats are still available to order on those (and the Dinked JOHNs are running slightly late, so won't be available for pick-up until next week). while we still have a handful of copies left of Canadian singer-songwriter ADA LEA's beguiling, bedroomy 'one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden'.

Geordie singer-songwriter SAM FENDER follows up his No. 1 debut with 'Seventeen Going Under', which has picked up rave reviews in the papers today.

BADBADNOTGOOD's 'Talk Memory' is their first without founder member Matthew Tavares and finds the jazz trio moving further away from the instrumental hip-hop of their earlier albums towards a more European sound, blending ECM saxes, British contemporary soundscapes (Floating Points co-produces a track) and the occasional stinging McLaughlin-esque guitar lead, while harpist Brandee Younger and string charts from the legendary Arthur Verocai drive the closing track in an epic, spiritual direction firmly in the Coltrane tradition.

KEVIN MORBY releases the home demo versions of his album 'Sundowner' as 'A Night At The Little Los Angeles', there's a new 12" EP from DMA's and there are new albums from JAMES BLAKEWE ARE SCIENTISTS and SHE DREW THE GUN. There are CD releases with vinyl to come from TRIVIUM and THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE & I AM NO LONGER AFRAID TO DIE, while there are vinyl issues of albums which have already had a CD release from PONDBARENAKED LADIES and recent guest NEWTON FAULKNER (if you pre-ordered a vinyl & ticket bundle, it's now available to pick up).

Pre-orders

TEARS FOR FEARS have announced their comeback. New album 'The Tipping Point' (nothing to do with the Ben Shepherd quiz show vehicle) is due next year.

Also coming early next year is a new BONOBO record. 'Fragments' features appearances from Jamila Woods, Kadjha Bonet and Jordan Rakei.

And scheduled for March 2022 is 'Reeling', the much anticipated debut from buzz Liverpool fourpiece THE MYSTERINES.

This side of Christmas, there's a second CAN live set on Mute. This one capturing the legendary Krautrockers live in 'Brighton 1975'. And the songs from comedian BO BURNHAM's acclaimed lockdown special 'INSIDE' get a physical release in early December. Includes 'Bezos', the song which launched a thousand TikToks.
