Expected Release 14th November 2025
Rooted in London’s DIY scene, Hank have spent the past year carving out a reputation with a steady run of compelling singles and unpredictable live shows. With a rotating cast of collaborators at their core, they’re seen as “One of the best alternative acts in London right now” (So Young).
On record, Hank slip between noise and melody, intimacy and dissonance, drawing comparisons to forebears like My Bloody Valentine, The Breeders and Beck. On stage, their performances serve only to elevate things, with experimentation firmly at their core.
This summer has seen them play their first headline shows across the UK as well as appearing at festivals including Left of the Dial and The Great Escape. Prior to this, they’ve cut their teeth at both DIY parties and by sharing stages with the likes of Been Stellar, Catcher, DEADLETTER, HighSchool, Mannequin Pussy, RIP Magic, Sorry, and Sunken.
2024’s debut four-track EP Twist Grip helped set the tone. Featuring singles ‘Angel Says’ and ‘DYLM’, it was produced by Jamie Neville (Mark William Lewis, PVA) and featured guest spots from Asha Lorenz (Sorry) and Ben Romans-Hopcraft (Warmduscher), catching attention from BBC 6Music, Clash and So Young, with Still Listening naming it their EP of the Year.
They returned just six months later with another stellar four-track EP, Spiralic; again working with Neville and mastering engineer Kevin Venbergen (Happy Mondays, Lush, Pixies).
From the expansive opener 'Stand On Yr Star’ to the probing ‘Temp Fix’ (featuring Lola’s
longtime friend Theo Bleak, it’s a tribute to their hometown Dundee and a reflection on the wider Scottish mentality, where ingrained self-deprecation and modesty often masks brilliance), Spiralic threads themes of vulnerability, memory and unease into a circular motif, where old thoughts perpetually resurface to override any desire to look forward. It also showed the band continuing to evolve, broadening their sound while sharpening their balance of atmosphere and melody.
To finish the year, the band are set to release both EPs on vinyl, bringing them together on one disc whilst also expanding Spiralic to include the EP’s previously unheard title track. Built around hypnotic, circling guitar lines and mantra-like lyrics (“On and off screen, wishing / Off and on screen, telling”), ‘Spiralic’ is a meditation on repetition, confrontation and escape, featuring backing vocals from Asha Lorenz (Sorry) - invited back after her contribution to Twist Grip - alongside Marco Pini (RIP Magic, Sorry, Slow Dance). That symmetry continues into the record’s presentation with Pini also designing the deluxe gatefold sleeve and artwork, extending the spiralic theme beyond the music into its physical form.
Being released on clear vinyl and getting its first pressing as a Dinked Edition, it will be sold exclusively through the UK’s best independent record stores. Following debut vinyl releases by fellow exciting new acts Makeshift Art Bar and Dog Race, Twist Grip / Spiralic is the third instalment of their brilliant Early Doors series and will be limited to just 400 copies on a first come, first served basis.
