New Release Round-Up 28th May 2021

Post-punk phenoms black midi return with another bewildering, disorienting and downright thrilling record. 'Cavalcade' is simultaneously more tightly focused and more proggily expansive than their debut 'Schlagenheim, while Geordie Greep's occasionally crooning vocals demonstrate a hitherto unseen commitment to melody. It's available on CD, LP and indies-excusive picture disc, and we've got a handful of limited edition flexis to give away with purchases of the album.

The debut full-length from hotly-tipped Leicester party pop outfit Easy Life, 'life's a beach' boasts the kind of genre-bending anthems and hip-hop inflected delivery of acts like Bad Sounds with the lyrical broken Britain insularity of fellow indie up-and-comers Sports Team, who themselves issue 'Plant Test', a B-sides and rarities record exclusive to independent record shops.

Prolific Aussie psych collective King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard deliver 'L.W.', the follow-up to last year's 'K.G.' and another dive into microtonal tunings on CD and indies 'gator green' recycled wax. Moby's 'Reprise' (indies coloured vinyl available) see the electronic musician rework some of his biggest hits in an orchestral style with the help of guest vocalists Gregory Porter and Kris Kristofferson. And on the theme of unlikely collaborations, Scottish pop-soul combo Texas boast a feature from Wu-Tang Clan on the title track of their brand new album 'Hi' (CD, deluxe CD and white vinyl).

Jay Som and Palehound team up for bedroom supergroup Bachelor (RIYL Soccer Mommy, Phoebe Bridgers, early Waxahatchee) and we've still got some copies of the fabulous Dinked Edition of their debut 'Doomin' Sun' pressed on red & orange "galaxy" vinyl. #DinkedEdition

There's a long-awaited vinyl pressing of Taylor Swift's 'evermore'. k.d. lang's 'Makeover' collects extended remixes of the Canadian's singles from the 90s club heyday. Following last year's 'Metrobolist', there's a picture disc of Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold The World' joined by a companion double-CD set of B-sides and rarities 'The Width Of A Circle'. And there's an incendiary 1975 live set from Can in Stuttgart is issued on 2CD and 3LP sets.
