New Release Round-up 22nd April 2022

Out Today

A couple of albums to tell you about this RSD Eve.

FONTAINES D.C. are back with their third album 'Skinty Fia' and it might just be the best yet from the Dublin quintet. Building on the swagger of 'Dogrel' and the grinding post-punk of 'A Hero's Death', it finds the band exploring new sounds like the chamber ambience of opener "In ár gCroíthe go deo" or the wistful accordion of "The Couple Across the Way". Vocalist Grian Chatten is a stalking presence, confidently blending emotion and politics. Available on CD, red vinyl, yellow vinyl and deluxe 45rpm 2LP.

Sessions for SPIRITUALIZED's ninth album 'Everything Was Beautiful' took place at some eleven different studios and the result is a deeply layered but tuneful maximalist psych epic. Limited edition vinyl variants include a Japanese edition and a deluxe pink vinyl whose sleeve features a removable medicine box

Pre-orders

Some big pre-orders announced this week, not least the long rumoured debut from Radiohead/Sons of Kemet supergroup THE SMILE, 'A Light For Attracting Attention'.

'Found Light' might be the twelfth album from LAURA VEIRS but the singer-songwriter says it feels like her debut following her split from partner and producer Tucker Martine.

And a few that might have slipped through the net in recent weeks:

There's not long to wait for SHARON VAN ETTEN's motherhood-inspired 'We've Been Going About This All Wrong' which lands in a couple of weeks.

SVE's touring partner ANGEL OLSEN's 'Big Time' arrives a month later and follows her stellar 'All Mirrors'.

HARRY STYLES boasts another impressive rigout on the cover for his third solo album 'Harry's House'.
