Out Today
LANA DEL REY issues 'Blue Banisters', her second album of 2021. A combination of material penned during the pandemic and offcuts from 'Ultraviolence' and an abandoned collaboration with The Last Shadow Puppets (represented here by the Miles Kane feature "Dealer"), it's at the hazy, downtempo end of her oeuvre and she remains a genius at suggesting the storm raging beneath the shiny American Dream veneer. The indies LPs are running slightly late on this one but should be with us early doors next week.
BIFFY CLYRO's 'The Myth Of The Happily Ever After' is a response both to its chart-topping predecessor 'A Celebration Of Endings' and the intervening eighteen months or so. Available on CD and red vinyl, both come with a bonus disc of an acclaimed 2020 show from Glasgow Barrowlands.
ELTON JOHN's 'The Lockdown Sessions' does exactly what it says on the tin, proffering quarantine collaborations with a sparkling range of artists from Stevie Wonder, Eddie Vedder and Stevie Nicks, to Dua Lipa, Lil Nas X and Gorillaz.
PARQUET COURTS explore the intersection of dance and rock in a Talking Heads/'Screamadelica' kind of way on new album 'Sympathy For Life'. We've got some exclusive packs of tarot cards to give away with purchases.
'Prioritise Pleasure' is Rebecca Lucy Taylor's second album as SELF ESTEEM and continues her transformation from Slow Club indie darling to sensual pop goddess. Features the arresting single 'I Do This All The Time' and is available on CD and indies gold vinyl.
NUBYA GARCIA's excellent, Mercury-nominated debut 'Source' undergoes remixes from the likes of Georgia Ann Muldrow and Moses Boyd on 'SOURCE ⧺ WE MOVE'.
There's a first new studio album in six years from the mighty MY MORNING JACKET, which doubtless is another fine entry into the canon but it's the CD running late on this one, for a change, so it's yet to reach our ears.
Duran Duran's new album 'Future Past' features contributions from Mike Garson and Graham Coxon, and boasts production from Erol Alkan, Giorgio Moroder and Mark Ronson. Available on standard and deluxe CDs with two coloured vinyl variants.
Plus there are new albums from CIRCUIT DES YEUX and CRADLE OF FILTH.
Dinked Editions
A troika of Dinkeds landing today: We still have stock of Melbourne outfit GOOD MORNING's 'Barnyard' on glow in the dark vinyl. Alas, the Dinked versions of the latest from Liverpool alternative institution CLINIC and the debut from Edinburgh singer-songwriter HAMISH HAWK are sold out, but standard formats are available to order.
Plus we still have stock available to pre-order on a couple of tasty Dinked morsels announced this week in the form of a new film/music project from electronic duo BOY HARSHER and a brand new album from Brooklyn post-punks BODEGA.
Reissues
NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS release Part II of their 'B-Sides and Rarities' collection on standard and deluxe double-CD sets and a double-LP. Part I is also reissued on triple-CD, while a vinyl box set collects both parts- drop us a message if you're interested in that one.
'Tattoo You' is the latest ROLLING STONES album to receive the deluxe reissue treatment on a dizzying array of standard and deluxe formats. Impulse! release one of only three known live performances of JOHN COLTRANE's opus, 'A Love Supreme: Live In Seattle' captures an expanded group running through his most enduring work, and 'Let It Come Down' is the latest SPIRITUALIZED album in the Spaceman Reissue programme.
Pre-orders
Coming in 2022, BASTILLE return with 'Give Me The Future'
Also due in February of next year, London jazz-adjacent 6-piece MELT YOURSELF DOWN continue to evolve on 'Pray For Me I Don't Fit In'.
This side of NYE, CASSANDRA JENKINS releases the companion to one of the albums of the year so far in the form of '(An Overview On) An Overview On Phenomenal Nature' (albeit you'll have to wait until April for the vinyl).
NEIL YOUNG continues an already prolific year of releases with a brand new album 'Barn' sneaking its way out in early December. And with December also in mind, comes a first Christmas album from HISS GOLDEN MESSENGER 'O Come All Ye Faithful'.
